Automotive Harness Fastening

An automotive wiring harness passes through different spaces and mounting points. The fastening component needs to suit both the harness and the structure around it. A useful selection process begins with the actual assembly geometry.

Choose the Fixing Method

Push mounts, fir tree fixings, edge clips and pipe clips address different installation arrangements. Identify whether the fastening point is a hole, an edge or a tube before narrowing the product range.

Key Mounting Dimensions

  • Bundle diameter and required tie length.
  • Hole diameter and panel thickness, where applicable.
  • Edge thickness or pipe diameter for other fixing methods.
  • Clearance and the direction of the routed harness.

Material Requirements

Share the operating environment, material requirements and any test criteria with the supplier. Performance should be checked for the chosen model and material rather than assumed across an entire product family.

Évaluation d'un échantillon

Xiaogu Electric supports standard product matching and OEM/ODM development from drawings or samples. Sample evaluation gives your team a practical way to review fit before confirming production quantities.

Prepare Your Specification

Engineering and purchasing need the same component definition. A fastening name alone leaves room for differences in dimensions, material and mounting arrangement. Keep the model or drawing revision next to the quantity so the quotation refers to the part your team intends to evaluate.

Samples & Supply Planning

A sample answers questions about the component and its installation. The quotation addresses the agreed specification, quantity and supply arrangements. Keep both discussions connected, while recording which technical questions are still open before a production order is confirmed.

Stock dispatch and custom development are also different conversations. Stock orders typically dispatch in 3–10 days, subject to availability and order confirmation. A new mold typically takes around two months, subject to project review. Identify early whether you are selecting an established part or asking for a new geometry.

Identify Each Fixing Point

For an assembly with several fastening locations, consider keeping one row per fixing point in your internal parts list. Record the mounting geometry, chosen model and current evaluation status. This gives the team a shared place to discuss a sample that fits, a dimension that needs clarification or a component that requires further development.
